Have an old PC sitting beside my TV. After I install a TV/Capture card (probably Leakdtek), I want to watch the recording on the TV.

Tried to do this with another PC and TV. Using S Video in and out (composite S Video convertor at one end) Recorded TV prog on PC using Leadtek TV-Capture card and then watched the WMV file running from the PC to the TV screen.
Same file looks great on PC monitor. But I want to watch these files in the comfort of the lounge environment without having to convert the file into DVD Video for the standalone player. Conversion takes too long and many of these recordings I will not keep, but need to view them first to make that decision.

How are the media centres handling this problem, (I do not think that most of the media centres are supplying a seperate screen and just utilising customers existing TV) after all, you supposedly can use your mouse and keyboard to write and read email, etc. from the comfort of your lounge chair.
The resolution I get on my TV is such that you could not read any writing and images are pretty awful as well.

It is a shame that there is not a standalone DVD player that can read WMV files
