OK some albums can rip in under 30 mins and some say somethin silly like 81 hours. Does it all depend on what cd is being ripped or is there a option to change this. Windows Media Player takes between 5 and 10 mins why does this software take longer?

on another EAC thread you made, remember we were explaining why EAC is the best? Its because it has error-correction. It will go over every bit of info on the CD, and if the CD is scratched or damaged, it will take a while to read those sectors, and thats why the speed can slow down. Other rippers like WMP and CDex, while decent, will skip over a section if it can't read it the first time. So do a good cleaning to your CDs before you rip them

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

If you want to have a lesser amount of work and achieve some fair results -- maybe you should try :-

You already have the Lame_enc.dll but at the same time -- just below the Download Locations list--> Download the BladeEnc's MP3 DLL almost at the bottom.

81 hours is absurd even on paranoia settings.

Don't use the Blade Encoder. It sounds like garbage and it hasn't been updated in years. The guy who created it has stopped work on it permanitly

The title of the thread is Exact Audio Copy Takes Too Long?

Diabolos *** The Blade Encoder is a fast encoder . No one said in here that it was the best ! -- It is a Fair.

The suggestion was made to the person that started this thread that if he didnt want the Best -- he could always go to a faster program/encoder and sacrifice for it.

Now , why use the word ""garbage"" --- cant you be a bit more of a diplomat !

No everything is ok now. It was down to running too many programs that was using up resources and that is why it said obsurd estimation times. It still says something like 81 hours on an old or scrathed cd but the time gradually decreases and they usually rip in under 30 mins which is good.

ripping doesn't take up many resources. its when lame is encoding when your CPU maxes out
