If you're burning at the rated speed or less, then nine times out of ten, playback skipping on set-top players is down to bad media quality, this is the first thing to check.

Good media include Verbatim (MCC__ ), TDK (TDKG02, TTG01), Taiyo Yuden (TYG__ ) and some Ritek.

If you're new to burning, be aware that branded media such as Memorex or Datawrite can be produced by a variety of manufacturers, some good, some very bad.
Do a search of this forum to find a respected supplier in your country and buy good quality media from them, then check the media code of the disks to make sure you're getting the real deal.

If you still have problems, then it's time to look at your burner and S/W.

What are some of the brands/speeds/and formats of your media?
How fast did you burn it?
How does that backup look in the pc-using the drive that burned it?
What programs are you using to rip/compress/and burn?
What is brand name and model # of your burners?
Does your stand alone player play someone else's backups?
Does your backups play in someone else's players?
Do you use adhesive/paper labels?
Do you multi-task while doing any part of the dvd backup process?
Is your hard drive fragmented?

There are many possibilities for your problem. We need some more info.

You've tried different media, different burners, and speeds. This leaves either your dvd backup programs or your stand alone does not like your burners.
