problem with LG GSA-4160 Burner

I've only had this unit for 6 months and already it won't read any discs. It says the drive is empty. Is this a problem with the optical lens? Have anybody experienced similar problems with their burner?

I have had the same problem with a similar model # GWA-4161B, and found out that it should not have been sold outside Korea (I'm in Canada!!!) and not as retail, but as part of a full operating system.
The problem with mine is that it will not read Dual Layer discs....irritating!! I've contacted LG on the phone and their entirely useless. I'm going to return mine to the bastards that illegally sold it to me. Just thought I would share my little story.
