I posted this elsewhere and was redirected to this forum so if I'm posting in the wrong place I apologize in advance. Here is my issue:
I've been using my Sony DW22A DL burner (external) at school on a new (purchased last month) HP to back-up various materials, movies, etc. using decrypter and shrink with no problems...not one coaster using Verbatim media.
I took the burner home and hooked it up tp my HP Pavillion zv5000 (purchased this fall) and have gotten nothing BUT coasters with the Verbatim media.
When I am burning at home the buffer (both system and device) jump around a lot. In decrypter I keep getting the error saying "Unable to write to address. Address Invalid." Sometimes it gets halfway through the burn and comes up with this. Sometimes it happens at 10%. There seems to be no problem ripping, just writing.
My Primary IDE is DMA Ultra DMA 5
My secondary is DMA Word Mode 2
USB device says that the device is working properly.
I followed the directions under the first site and it seemed to fix my problem. I made two backups with no problem. When I shut down and came back the next day to make a few more backups I was back to square one. Three more coasters. I checked the settings I had changed and all of them were as I left them before I shut down. There are no other devices attached to USB ports.
I took the burner back to school and it worked flawlessly.
I have all the current versions of the software I'm using so I think it must be a hardware issue. Any ideas or suggestions?
