Help with authoring using MyDVD

I have been trying to turn a divx avi into a dvd movie that can be played in a dvd player. Ive used TMPEGenc to change the avi into an mpeg2 and now I have an mpeg file.

I then run MyDVD and add the movie to the list. The weird thing is it takes the mpg movie and only gives me the first 17 seconds of it. Im not sure why. From all my searching it seems like it should have worked. When I select an AVI, for instance, it displays that it will take 9 gig of space and that its to big, but when I preview the movie I see the whole thing.

When I preview the mpg, I see only 17 seconds and the 3.9 gig file turns into only about 52 meg. Im not sure whats going on.

Right now im trying to Demux the mpeg, then ill remux it using TMPGenc. Can any of you offer advice on other things to try? Im new at this sort of thing.
