If I play my dvd backup on my computer it plays flawlessly but if I use one of my dvd players it freezes up after it passes the 1 hour mark or so.

Can anyone tell me why or how i can fix it?

We will need quite a bit more information to be of any help. Mainly how was the backup made what media was it burned to and what brand of set top player you have.

It would also be a good idea to try different media to see if it makes a difference.

I ripped it with DVD Decryptor than stripped it with IFOeditor and then burned with Nero......I used a Memorex DVD-R and I have 2 Phillips DVD Players

This is a problem that I have sometimes also.

I only ever have it if the film nearly fills the DVD (i.e. over 4GB) If the film is less than this or split to two discs and each disc is less than this then I never get the problem.

If I re-rip it from the copy and then burn it again it works (mostly).

I assume that it is a media issue (although I have tried cheap (bulkpaq) and less cheap (white label) and there is no diffeerence).
It doesn't happen with RW discs though but this may be coincidence as I haven't burnt that much onto RW

I think it's a combination of the media and my standalone being a bit fussy about what it plays.
I have a high end Teac player (I forget the model number)

As an update
I have just bought a new DVD player, the awesome Arcam DV88 (here in the UK HiFi is about the only thing we lead the world in any more) and it plays all the discs that skipped and stopped after the halfway point on my Teac faultlessly.

I can therefore conclude that it was my DVD player at fault and is probably yours also.
