Simple DVD playback from hard drive

I have a large DVD collection I want to put on my home theater PC. The DVDs will be on several internal and external hard drives so I can?t just open 1 folder and get access to all the movies. My plan is to have a document with all the movies listed. Each title in the list would be linked to the movie?s folder (IFO file) on the hard drive. The goal is to just click on the title in the movie list and have the movie start right up.

Right now I?m using Power DVD to play the DVDs. I click on ?Select Source? on the user interface and then select ?Open DVD File on Hard Disk Drive? and the DVDs play back great. I want to be able to eliminate the steps to configure the player to playback from hard drive. I can?t just click on the IFO file and have it start playing automatically. I have to manually go through the steps above. There doesn?t seem to be any setting that allows me to have Power DVD open up in hard drive playback mode.

Anybody have a similar set up that works. I?ve done a lot of searching but found no answers. I?m trying out Meedio right now as my home theater software. It has a movie folder but I can?t find it written anywhere on how to one click start a movie that?s on the hard drive. I?ve read where some folks convert their DVDs to Iso files but that seems like a lot of work. Are there other software DVD players out there that will automatically start playing a DVD from the IFO file or by some other method? Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
