i/o magic problem with software

i have an i/o magic dvd writer 8x and it only works with one softwware (copy to dvd) if i try with nero, or others it will screw up my dvd. I need to make some home videos and it wont work with pinnacle either. could you help me out
Ps; the dvd rw didnt come with any drivers, ony some software(also form pinnacle) and that doesnt work either.
