if your downloading games, just download an already ripped one.

I take it that you have an ISO on your computer since it was downloaded, and I'm sure you already have the game and are just making a backup the hard way right?? Well, first of all, you need to extract the files inside the ISO.
Every dvd based ps2 game is different when ripping it to a CD, check out this to learn the basics of dvd ripping...

i would just spend $50-80 and get a dvd burner, its a lot easier.

It doesn't matter if the game is original or downloaded one, everything is about modifying the image made from the game.

Ok, it doesn't matter if you downloaded the game or if you have the actual ps2 game. The point is you have the ISO of a ps2 game on your computer and that is all you need. Now listen carefully, first, extract the files within the ISO with an ISO extracting program. If you look at the link I gave you, you will notice that you will be done with step one. So what you will have is a folder with all of the game files inside of it and you can start deleting things to make it fit onto a CD-R.
