I've heard that some mp3 files have the cover art from the album they were ripped from embedded directly into them, and that if you remove the art, you can save some space. If anyone knows about this issue, do you know of a tool that can check for and/or remove the art from the mp3?

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
