Help! Can't play my dvds in anything besides Sony

I just bought a Sony Dvd burner, model DRX500UL. It's the one that burns + or - R dvds. I've tried burning both formats using DVDXCOPY. All my dvds play fine in my Sony Dvd player I have. I try it on my Toshiba which is on the list of being compatible, it won't play. I've also tried it on a Mintek and Panisonic which also is suppose to be compatible with +R. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it my burner? Thanks!!!

This has to be a C O N Spiracy....

Actually I doubt it is the drive as I have the DRU500A model and have no issues playing DVD's elsewhere but the one's I use are DVD-r. Have you tried the DVD-r's yet? Some people claim that +r DVD's are more widley compatible that the -r DVD's are but I'm not sure if I agree with that statement.

Everything I have put my -r disks into they have played. I also tried some rw's and they were hit and miss just never tried the +r cost is still to high for me to use them.
