problem with mix cd's

is there a way to make one big mp3 file (prefrably vbr) for mix cd's as i hate the 1 second gap it makes when playing a play list. any help appreciated

I don't think EAC can do it, so the easiest way is to rip them as WAV files, then get a free editor like Krystal or Audacity, and you can line up all the tracks in a row, and they will easily sync up with each other, then export as one large WAV file. Then go back to EAC and go tools>compress wavs to convert it to your LAME VBR mp3

I used EAC briefly and it seemed to convert them to compressed WAV's. I will use WMP or Real Player. I can always redo them if you notice I am doing something wrong.

well there's no such thing as compressed WAVs. you could use another program, but EAC is the best ripper there is. In EAC, there are 4 buttons on the left. normally you click the second one to encode to mp3. but just select the first one (that says WAV) and it will rip them only to WAV

Just to bug djscoop,
There is a such thing as compressed WAVEs! Since the WAVE file is a container not a codec it can contain any format! It is true that most WAVE files are PCM-Wave combos but you can also encode Mp-Waves! Yep, lossy-Wave files do exist. Its strange but true.
Now I doubt that weazel200 was talking about this type of WAVE file but I like to keep "experts" on there toes :)

damn diabolos you cease to amaze me! I am ashamed that I teach damn audio yet I continue to find out things like this. compressed wavs must be pretty unpopular, cause I've never heard of them before or come across one. Oh well, live and learn. thanks for the info

Yea I must say, I just a few months ago found out that you could do that with the WAVE container. There are sites that are dedicated to Mp3-Waves but all the ones I found where out of date. I have however experienced AC3-WAVE files while playing around with BeSweet.

I am dumb as sin...I want to do the same thing as weazel200...copy all one cd (Mixed songs)as one big mp3 file. I read what you said, but I need to know what is EAC and Lame VBR???? Thanks 4 your advice

Have you tried searching through the forums? I recommend doing that first for any newbie.
EAC (Exact Audio Copy): The best CD ripper you can get. Its "postcardware" which means its free just about.
LAME: The best open-source Mp3 codec/encoder you can get.
VBR (Variable bit-rate): A type of encoding scheme found in most of the popular codecs. Offers the best quality in terms of compression and size.
