I am trying to do the same exact thing. The only thing with Sony Click to DVD (which I use) is that it only accepts files created by MovieShaker or DVgate Motion. We need to find a different program that will use any avi or mpeg to make a dvd.
We're trying to take our VHS home videos and put them on DVD. We use WinTV to capture the video, but we need a program to convert these files to a dvd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have had this problem converting my vcd`s so I can put them onto a dvd.
My problem that my vcd`s were not necessarily mpeg1 compliant and so I had to re-encode them to the mpeg1 compliant specs using TMPGenc and author them with appropriate software, I use My dvd.
This is a pain because to have dvd mpeg1 compliant the audio needs to be transcoded from 44khz to 48khz and this turns a nice comfortable 600Mb movie into a WHOOPING 1Gb approx. file thus reducing space to approx 3 vcd onto dvd.

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down

Well, I just used TMPGenc to encode an avi file I had captured with WinTV and guess what?! It imported into Sony Click to DVD! It was really easy and I didn't even have to change much within the program. The only thing was it took a 500K avi file and turned it into a 40MB Mpeg file! I'm so happy, though. Hope it helps you!
