I have a 384/128 DSL connection, using a modem. I am using BitComet to download files. Many people have recommended me to use BitTornado or Azureus but they are really slow! Anyway, even if some downloads get speeds such as 27-36 kb/s most of them have about 8-11 Kb/s! Is there anything I can do to speed them up? Thanks!

1. Do you have a firewall? If so you need to open the correct ports.

2. Use a port such as 53000, ISPs have been known to block lower ports therefore resulting in slow speeds.

3. Use sites such as TorrentBytes and EliteTorrents. They require registration but they're extremely fast.

4. I hope the torrents you're downloading are popular.. otherwise don't expect too high a speed.
