Philips DVDR 72/17 Overheating

I picked up a Philips DVDR 72/17 from Circuit City that was a former display, and after returning to Philips for warranty service the first day (it wouldn't turn on), now I have a new recurring problem.

It overheats. Quickly. I can leave it plugged in, on standby, with no timer set or anything, and it will overheat. Becomes extremely hot right at the coax input/output connections, and the area around them. Eventually the unit just locks up and displays a red ring around the record button.

Anyone else have a Philips player with this problem? I'm sending my unit back to Philips (again, ugh), but I have no high hopes for ever getting a reliable DVD recorder from them.

May have to hit Wal-Mart tomorrow for the iLo DVD/HD recorder.
