I have several backup images I've been trying to burn to CD for the PSX. They are CCD files, which I know both CloneCD and Alcohol 120 can burn.
The problem isn't that they do not load, the problem is that they all bounce -- the screen bounces, that is.
All were burned at 1x...."Game" selected in CloneCD, "Playstation" selected in Alcohol. Only one backup has worked so far, which was Pong (small game maybe the issue?). It ran on CloneCD. But I burnt Saiyuki and Devil Dice on it right afterwards and it was a bouncer. I use Gameshark 5 to disc-swap. Burning with a YamahaCD-RW.
What is even more confusing is that, Raystorm for instance, can be loaded into Dreamcast using Bleemcast and work fine, but bounces when loaded onto the PSOne.

Anyone know what's going on? I'd appreciate any advice.

I use CD-R when burning my ps1 games and have never had a problem playing them on my ps2. You might want to try a cd-r and see if that works... What ver. ps2 do you have? Can your ps2 read real ps1 games fine?

Older Yamaha CDRW drives do not work well with Playstation games. Try a different recorder and burn at the slowest speed possible and see if that corrects your issue.

PimpDawg> No PS2 just a PSOne. Sorry, should've made that clear. Just that there's no PSOne section here. And I meant CD-RW as the hardware.

Icemonkey> I thought that may be the problem...I wanted to make sure though before I would have to swap out that Yamaha. I'll give a shot. thanks.

*sigh*

Okay, I tried my friend's Sony DVD-RW. And MDS/MDF in Alcohol at 4x (the slowest possible...though on my computer I could do 1x). Still no luck. It still bounces. So it can't be the hardware unless these 2 writers suffer the same problems?

I'm trying a CCD in CloneCD at 1x next...

This is driving me absolutely insane. CloneCD at 1x works no better than anything else. Still the screen bounces. I just do not understand what the hell is going on. 2 different writers, same result. And it can't be the PSOne cuz I've played other copied games on it (from other people), as well as the 2 successful games I burned(which seemed to have been purely random or that they were very small-file-sized games).

Just thought i'd throw this idea out there...is it the correct region? PAL or NTSC?

I've tried to copy both a PAL and NTSC file with the same result. I'm not totally sure what the two games that successful were since I deleted them afterwards (low HD space). And I'm not totally sure what some are cuz some of the files aren't labled...and if there's a way to find out, I don't know it.

Right now I'm trying something I saw in a forum in the past. Setting up the image in a virtual drive and copying it as a CD, in CloneCD. Dunno if it'll work. I tried it already in Alcohol but it seemed a bit awkward, like it only wanted to make it into a MDS/MDF instead of a simple CD-to-CD copy...I'll look into it more deeply if CloneCD doesn't work...

You know what you COULD try? This is a solution that works for me sometime with problem images, and it may not work in this case, but hey, you never know. Mount the image on Alcohol 120% image drive, and make a mdf/mds image file of that with Alcohol. Then burn that instead. This has worked for me a few times when i had an image that i knew was good, but still wouldn't work for me.

I think that's what I was referring to. Like, Alcohol doesn't make a direct copy from CD to CD, but converts it to a MDS and/or MDF, THEN copies it to the CD. If this is normal or just happens when using a virtual drive, I can't say. It kind of confused me at first, but I think that's what it's doing (trying it right now).
But I do have PAL game that was already MDF/MDS format that ended up bouncing also. Sooo...I dunno. Getting ready to see here in a few minutes...

But if you're referring to actually going through the proces of MAKING an image, I'll have to try that next.

Ah screw it. Just went through the Image Making option, and it's the same process as the Copy Wizard. This became more of a learning proces than burning a PSX game, but I'm just fed up now.
I'll end up breaking something if I continue, heh.
Oh well.
