LG Won't Burn DVD-R

I have a lg gsa 4210b for my burner. It is supposed to be able to burn all formats, but when I put in a dvd-r it says that the drive is empty. When I look in my computer it says there is a dvd-r in the cd drive, but the dvd drive is empty? What's up with this? I already tried a firmware upgrade. Can someone help me out?
