Can't connect Gamecube to RCA DVD Recorder/ VCR Combo

My mother has tried playing her Gamecube through the RCA recorder/ VCR combo, and when she plays her game, her game is on a delay. From the time she pushes a button it takes like a couple of seconds for the character to react. She has hooked the Gamecube up to her other TV in another room and the game works just fine. Is there a way to get the Gamecube to play right through the DVD recorder? She doesn't have any more audio/video plug-ins in the back of her tv, so she has to keep unplugging the DVD player in order to play a game. But, she has to unplug the Gamecube in order to watch a DVD. It is very frustrating for her. If anyone can offer any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
