This is not uncommon, It is all media / drive / system related, 90% of the time it is media, the drive can only read as fast as quality of the media will let it

Well, if it's the original pressed copy that's reading slow, that has nothing to do with Ritek Ridata.

If you click Tools/Settings/Device you will find an option to change read speed. Double check there to make sure it's not set lower than you desire.

If all else fails you can uninstall and reinstall, but make sure you reboot in between.

Some disks may take a very long time since the duplication house may have used a cheap disk to begin with and since they brun them at high speed (about 2 minutes) whcih we cannot do their machinery may have written the track off just a little so that your drive is searching and searching then copying down. A good quality master disc is important to have but lets face it some movies are just cheaply produced. You can try Nero DriveSpeed to change the read spead but it is very unlikey to work since programs like DVD Decrypter have exclusive access to the drive. Download the Patin Coufinn engine at VSO software and see if you likie it better than SPTI or WinASPI (Set this in DVD Decrypter) it may perk up a bit.

@BTFSB: Do you know what you're talking about? Original DVD movie discs are not burned, they are pressed. It's a totally different technology.

@DigitalSk: Try to uninstall the drive in Device Manager and uninstall DVD Decrypter. Then reboot your computer. Windows should pick up your drive right away (providing you are using XP) and reinstall Decrypter. That helps problems like this sometimes.
