Help with MPT 3.20

I just got MPT and I have a v180. My problems is no matter how many time I try it wont detect and install my phone. I choose the USB and I plug my phone in and it says detecting and then it finishes and says it didn?t detect my phone. Does anybody have some experience with this or any suggestions. I am really new to this and cant figure out what I am doing wrong. Its driving me crazy. I hope one of the many knowledgably people here can point me in the right direction. My OS is windows XP.
