DVD burner won't burn please help

first of all let me say that I have a dell dim.8400, and I'm using emc 7. For some strange reason, when i make a slideshow with dvd builder
and try to burn it directly to a dvd+r disk, i always get an error messege. But if I burn it with a dvd+rw, it burns it with no problem. I even tried burn an iso file first, and tried burning it to a dvd then, and get a buffer under run. I'v download the lastest patch from roxio, and I didn't see any firmwear for my burner from dell, so i have no idea what the problem is. I also have other software where i make slideshows, and also keep getting error messeges, but only with dvd+r, but fine with dvd+rw. I'm using the same dvd's that have been working for me in the past, so right now i'm just lost!! And ofcourse I don't want to have to keep using dvd+rw's. So can someone please give me some ideas on what to try,

My guess is that you have a Samsung burner. Go to the Roxio forums and do a search for your Samsung burner. You will find the solution for updating the firmware. If it is the Samsung 252S, look at this thread:

If it is a Philips, do a search of Afterdawn forums.
