After a solid month of sheer frustration,I took the Liteon drive out of the machine...and noticed that the disc was NOT level inside the tray on the spindle(I only saw this after pulling off the tray faceplate.)There are three screws around the bottom spindle on the drive,holding a plate in place.If you are still having burn/read issues,try adjusting these tiny screws(gently and slightly!)and then see how the drive reads.Mine is whirring away like a charm now,faster than when new,and it reads ALL media I put in it!
(Perhaps QC did not give these babies a final twice-over before shipment,whatever...mine is working now FINE.
