I have also recently installed a new 160GB drive to upgrade from my old 6.3G drive, the Old one is Fat32 and new is NTFS.
However, my problem is that I am trying to download and play an old DOS based game I had when I was a kid, called "Wolfpack". The game loads up fine, and the game title screen and options menu works fine, but when the game starts it is incredibly slow, unplayable. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make it run faster? I have tried it on the FAT 32 and NTFS drives and they both have exactly the same problem.

OK, how exactly do I do that? Also would it make a difference using a FAT partition instead of FAT32?

fat stands for file allocation table. fat16 was for dos, fat32 is for win9x, 2k & xp or use ntfs for win2k & xp when handling single files over 4gig

Unfortunately the compatibility settings didn't affect the running of the program, it still runs slow. Any other ideas? My flatmate thinks it possibily has something to do with differing versions of DOS, does that make any sense?

xp doesn't use dos except a virtual dos. could partition the drive & dual boot on so can use the game on the dos partition

Maybe that has something to do with it, as I'm pretty sure the game was designed to run on DOS systems (its pretty old!).
How would I partition my drive so that it can use DOS?

get a program like partition magic that either creates or remove a partition & moves info to & from that partition. also check your hd manufacturer to see if has similar program.
