The psp is designed to use a wireless router connected to your computer to play online. You need to set up a (at least if not G/b or G/b/a compatible) wireless 802.11b compatible router with your computer to a broadband connection. After following the router manufacturer's instructions, use the "Network Settings" option in the settings menu to set up a connection.

yeah, go to network settings, select new connection and go over one to where there is the option to scan. it ahould pick up the router and tell you encryption is "none". If it isn't encrypted just select it as the ssid (box above "scan") keep going right and select all the "easy settings" buttons that do everything for you.

1) Either setup your 802.11a,b,g or n compatible Wireless Router. Or start heading out down the Road with your Wallet in tow to purchase one.

2) Once you have your Wireless Router (802.11a,b,g or n), setup with a SSID, WEP or WPA Key (max 128-bit),. Configure your PSP? with shuch information under the Settings -> Network Settings section of the XMB. (Cross Media Bar i.e. The Dashboard),.

The USB Cable is for transfering Files to and from the MemoryStick. It has nothing to do with Networking, and likely never will have the slightest to do with it either.

If you want to play Om-Line or surf the Web. You'll need a Wireless Router that conforms to the IEEE802.11a,b,g, or n standard.

End of story...

Tell me are you this anoying in reall life too! Or didn't your Parents hug you enough Today?

The only way you will be able to get your PSP? On-Line is via the built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b), which the PSP? built into it, that's it! now unless your somekind of moding god and can Solder yourself up an 802.3 (Wired CAT-5), Ethernet Port onto your PSP. There simply is no other way your going to get your PSP On-Line!

Assuming you really don't know what 802.11a/b/g or n is why not google for it? Ya might just learn something for once! Same goes for 802.3...

To get back on topic:

The short answer is no! But, as I can envissage a time where we might actually see Everquest on the PSP? (or at the least some form of MMORPG),. It'll be hard to rull this out entirely. But for the most part. No this shouldn't envolve any extra costs.

Other then the extra Hardware (i.e. 802.11 Router, Switch, 802.11 Gameing Hub (for the PS2? and or XBOX? etc...)), that is...

AS far as playing just anything goes it's not impossible as such, but, you limmited as to which Hardware you can use at the moment. i.e. TeamXLINK e.g. XLink KAI. So unless you can comeup with there requrements your not going to be able to join there network with the PSP.

As far as General Internet Play goes. I beleave S0NY just released SOCOM for the PSP. For a cool $49.00(USD), and the Headset / Mic. for another $19.00(USD),. Unless I miss my guess, this is the only **Internet** Game avalible at the moment...
