I'm not quite sure what you mean... So Shrink finished burning, but failed to finalized or what? I've used DVD43, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter and they're all seems to work beautifully. On the other hand, I've used Shrink to only compress the movie, then I backed up with DVD Decrypter - this always works for me. Matter of fact, DVD43 has just updated to a v3.5.3.113 yesterday.
What kind of blank dvd media are you using? Perhaps, you should be considering some of these top quality medias i.e. Fuji, Maxell, TY, Verbatim and TDK. Most likely it's the blank media issue when Shrink failed to back up. What's the speed[how fast] you're backing up with and is it -R or +R? A few burners are really picky on the media types sometimes. So you may want to check with your burner to see its media compatibility. What's the brand name of your burner and have you updated its firmware lately?
Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will be able to result your problem. Perhaps give more details on the error and see what others can do for you.
