dvd burning also relys on the dvd "burner" that you have, what are the speeds for the burner you have?

dvd burner is an HP 300n but mostly im looking to increase encoding speed more than actual burning speed, and i was told that the xp 3200 would make a huge difference. Acutual burn time is bout 20 minutes but encoding time ranges from an hour and a half to 2 hrs with no deep analysis. think the Hp i have burns at 2.4 max.

it probably would, but for the best answer you should check out the other forums for the actual dvd burners and that

Any CPU that is in excess of 1.5Ghz will benefit you no end and help out with encoding times etc.
In increase in RAM and type would also improve the situation, and yes a higher rated burner will cut your speed time by at least half........but you could purchase that at a later date......to minimise costs etc, if that is of course an issue.

However you are looking at a major upgrade, which would result in CPU/Motherboard and Memory and HD to start with and what you suggest would in fact be a 'major' step forward, and you would notice and immediate improvement, especially as I expect your HD to be quite heavily fragmented aswell as it also very small in order to manage the Gb's of movies, so a 200Gb would be most beneficial.........

Hope this helps, if you need any other info just post, and Welcome to Afterdawn
