Azureus 2.3.0 - CPU 100%

I've been having huge problems with Azureus 2.3.0. Basically, I have no problems starting a torrent -- in fact, I noticed that the download speeds with this new version are faster than they were with 2.2.0.2.
However, after about 2 or 3 minutes of blazing along, the 'javaw' process fires up to close to 100% CPU usage and doesn't come down. This obviously grinds everything to a halt.
This is a known problem, and the fix at the official Azureus site recommends uninstalling Azureus & Java, rebooting, and then re-installing them. Did it. Twice. Didn't work. I also experimented with turning off firewall, spyware & virus services and nothing worked.
I went back to 2.2.0.2 and everything seems back to normal, but I like the decentralized tracking feature of 2.3 and would like to use it. If anyone has experienced similar problems and has been able to fix it, I'd appreciate any ideas you have.
Thanks.

This is a bit of a redundant question, but did you use the latest and the recommend Java client on the offical Azureus website?
When you take a look at the Task Manager, are there any processes running that you're not sure about, or have you already closed the program yet the process is still running?
Everyone is entitled to their own true opinion. Either respect that or don't.

Yeah, I downloaded the latest JRE from Sun as well, and also did what was recommended on the Azureus site, which was to uninstall any prior version(s), reboot & then install the new version.
As for task manager, I looked through it carefully and didn't notice anything that was causing me concern at all.

I had the same problem with Nod32 installed. After excluding JavaW.exe from the IMON (Internet Monitoring) list, everything seems normal again.
I know you said you uninstalled your antivirus software but this may be of help to others.

I second that problem. I will get crazy speeds and then after a few minutes Azureus takes a dump. I to have done all that they recommended. They only thing that has worked has been the set affinity option to 1 cpu on task manager...this is only availible for HT P4 cpu chips. So if you have a P4 cpu with HT technology just set javaw.exe affinity to cpu0. Even with that it still maxs at 50%, but hey its better than 100%. That has been the only work around that I came up with.

IMON "hack" doesn't work for me, so I did some tests and figure out, that the problem with 100% CPU usage by javaw is caused by NetLimiter (i use version 1.3). I tried new netlimiter 2 alpha 4 and all is working fine.

From what is being said it seems that the problem has to do with some internet traffic monitoring programs. If you are having 100%CPU usage with Azureas 2.3.0 then try the following tips:
1. If you have any software such as virus scanner or traffic monitoring software that monitors communication of programs over the internet, allow the file javaw.exe to be excluded from being monitored.
2. If you have a firewall set up, allow javaw.exe unrestricted access to the internet.
3. If non of the above are working for you, use the msconfig.exe utility to disable all start up programs and then if the Azureus is working correctly when you start it, enable one program at a time and restart the pc to see which program is causing the problem.
Hope that is helpful.

I had the same problem with javaw.exe causing 100% cpu usage after upgrading to Azureus 2.3.0.2
Java runtime is 1.5.0.03
Excluded javaw.exe from the IMON monitor list, even shut down NOD32.
Set javaw.exe affinity to cpu0 (I have a P4 with HT)
Uninstalled Azureus 2.3.0.2 and reinstalled 2.2.0.2, set UL and DL to 80% of bandwidth. Speeds consistently higher than with 2.3.0.2
CPU usage is back to 9% ... I'll stick with 2.2.0.2 until a newer version is released!

I have the exact same problem with 100% cpu usage. I do not have any of these programs installed, no AV, no FW... installed latest JRE AND an older one (not at the same time of course!) on a windows 2003 machine... same thing.
My other computer shows the exact same problem..its driving me nuts!

I noticed this issue as well. Turned out to be the 'download' bar for me. Shut it down and it hasn't done it since. Don't know if this will be of help to any others out there but figured I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Why do you guys use Azureus? It d/l speeds are not going to be fast if you have to restart the computer every minute. What are the pluses to Azureus?
