I want to be able to record live TV as well as back up my VHS tapes to DVD's on my computer using programs such as Nero. However, I am not quite sure how to connect my TV and computer. I do not have S-video on my tv or computer so how can I link the two together? Any suggestions and the exact chords would be helpful.

You will need to install a device to allow input from the TV to the computer. It may be a video card or external device that hooks to your PC through the USB ports. Either type of device will need to have the RCA type jacks on it to connect the TV to the PC. They usually come with some software to help get the TV/VCR data into the PC as files that you can work with. Try NewEgg or TigerDirect and look at video capture devices/cards.

yeah, your S-Video is 99% out only.

you usually need a video capture card to get video onto your pc.

as mentioed above you can use USB/Firewire now
