Hi
Sorry if this question is covered somewhere else. I have two halves of a movie in avi format (23.976 fps, ac3 5ch sound) and two .srt subtitle files, one for each half. How do I put these onto one 4.7gb dvdr which can be played in a normal dvd player?
Thanks

if the movie doesnt need subtitles i wuold not worry about it but if its a movie like Hero u need em. i dont think u can combine them to flow flawlessly to one another, but u can use Nero and put both AVI on one dvd-r and just have 2 menus if theyll fit. so when u get done watching part 1 then create a menu and start watching part 2.

Good guess, it is Hero
Explain the use of menus please. Cheers
I was wonderin if the best thing to do is to join the subtitles each to an AVI, then join the avis, then convert them to dvd and burn? Theres gotta be a quicker way though.
Thanks

I only use 2 programs when converting 2 avs and subs to dvd. Heres what i do and it works every time!
Install a program called VobSub as this will force the subtitles.
Install Canopus Procoder 2.
Make sure when you unpack the download that you have the 2 avis and the subs files in exactly the same folder.
There is no need to join these either as Canopus will do this for you.
Start Canopus Procoder and put a tick in the stitch box as this will join the files together, then choose a target which will be dvd PAL or whatever you wish to do then click convert and choose a path for output.....if you don't choose a path then the default path is my documents. Then hit convert! watch the first 5 mins you should see the subtitles being tranconded with the movie, if so then unclick preview as this will slow down convertion. Simple as that.
Good Luck..........Let us know how you get on

i guess ill pick one and try to add it.
questions i do have are.. do you need to do anything with VobSub? or just unzip it?
im in the process of getting procoder but ill let you know what happens when i finally give it a try.

as long as the subs files are in exactly the same folder as the AVI and named the same canopus adds them anyway. when you go to convert watch the first 5 mins you should see the subs come through on screen.
If you have the latest VobSub it contains the pack Direct VobSub when you play the AVI on windows media player 10 a small green arrow should show up on your taskbar on the computer thats direct VobSub kicking in as and when needed.

sorry for being so slow at all this but i really cant get it to work..
if i could get the subtitles to come up then i can do it from there.. but i cant even get that far.
so far i have the necessary programs.. vobsub 2.23, and canopus procoder version 2. i have "Ong-Bak.avi" and "Ong-Bak.srt" (which i actually had to rename) put into the same folder on my desktop.
so do i need another file? or are these it? the subs are definately not showing up.
thanks for the help so far though.

spent a bunch of time tryin to get that to work but it just wasnt happening..
the only player that will play the subs along with it is the bsplayer.. and i have to manually tell it to read the subs.
maybe my VobSub isnt working right?

I've used a program called avi2dvd and you can add both subtitle files. DVD Santa will also allow you to do it and will ask you if you want to add the srts for each video file.

Even when I was using the trial version, the demo message only shows for about 1 minute so it's no big deal. I use the full version now because I liked the program enough to help show support for the developers and my appreciation for a great program.

oh.. i thought it stayed up the whole time..
Avi2dvd works awesome, subs come out clean and it looks good.
it takes over 6 hours though, so be sure to set the settings right. and do it while you go to bed so you dont multi task.
dvdsanta was kind of dissapointing.. the subs were all messed up. The timing was fine but the quality of the lettering was horrible, you could barely read them.
