You need the full retail version of Nero (guessing you got Nero with your dvd burner). I had the same problem yesterday. I suspected that if I upgraded to the full version I would get the PSP profile and I was right - after paying $55 dollars and getting a new reg key, my OEM version of Nero was unlocked and I used Recode 2 to get a movie onto my PSP.
I ran into this before when I bought a non-Sony burner and tried to use my version of Nero that came with my Sony burner - it gives you an error saying "this version only works with Sony drives".

you are using nero to put video on the psp?
you can just go to www.pspvideo9.com download the program convert your file to whatever bitrate you like then copy into your MP directory on the mem card thru the usb...
or are you talking about actually burning a disc to play on the psp like a dvd? last time i checked, there were no such umd-sized recordables on the market.

Not sure who you were asking, but yes I use Nero Recode 2 to get movies onto my PSP memory stick. Recode 2 has all the settings preloaded (which you can adjust) for various types of mobile devices (PSP, Smartphones, ect.) You connect your PSP first, then run the conversion and it places it right on your memory stick.
The movie I did convert does not fill the entire screen (probably just a setting I need to adjust in Nero) and the sound is not as loud as I'd like, but the whole two hour movie looks great!
From what I understand there are no recordable UMD's available to the public.

I have not tried the PSPVideo9 yet, but I did download it.
Recode worked for me, but I need to experiment more so the screen size is larger and the sound is louder. I have a retail UMD version of Hellboy and it fills the screen and has louder audio.
I also used Recode to create a file for my Smartphone, but it creates a .mp4 file extension that Windows Media Player cannot play. I need to see if I can create a .wmv file with Recode. PocketDVD takes forever (hours!!) to create a .wmv file, but it plays perfectly on my tiny 176x220 Audivox SMT-5600 phone display!

To fill the screen, press the triangle button as you play the video
and there will be options for you to choose from. You can then select
full screen mode.

nero digital needs its own serial number for you to be able to use it with yoru current setup. once you add the serial number to Nero you will have the profile and be able to use all of the functions with it.

I don't know what I am doing, but my PSP is not recognizing the file I create with Recode 2. I am using the PSP setting and saving it directly to my 1gb stick. When it gets done, I go to the browser for video, and it keeps telling me no video. I even checked to make sure that Recode 2 is placing the file in the correct folder, and it is. I could use PSP9 but the program takes forever, I first have to rip the dvd - about 20 min and then PSP9 converts it, which takes about 2 and a half hours, and on top of that, the video is not that great. Recode 2 will rip/convert a 90 min movie in about 30 min and playing it on my pc the quality is exceptional. Any ideas?

The path is very important. I assume that the path is correct if you've chosen the PSP setting, but you should make sure. If the naming convention is incorrect, I belive the PSP will not recognize video or pictures.
Other than that I can't help. I'm at work and cannot access my setup. Hopefully some really smart person will reply as well.

My Nero Recode 2 names the file correctly for me. Odd that you would have to name it yourself - unless you were changing the name and that was the problem. Glad to hear you have it figured out. One thing to watch is that sometimes the thumbnail you choose will get changed during the transfer.
I can fit two movies on one 1GB Sony stick with good quality. I just installed SpongeBob "The Movie" and Racing Stripes on my son's PSP and they look great.
You may also notice the movies play with black bars on the top and side. You can use the triangle button to bring up the onscreen menu and then select full screen. This will play the movie full screen just like the UMD movies.
