Official statement from Playstations Japanese Site
http://www.playstation.jp/psp/update/ud_01.html
The new Firmware update fixes various security issues in the PSP's v1.0 firmware. Which effectively fills holes to stop unsigned code from being executed.
So, anyone running v1.0 I would suggest not to upgrade, because you will not be able to run homebrew apps. Example - Gameboy Emulator
FYI
For anyone who did not know, the reason you can run homebrew apps on v1.0 is because it allows unsigned code to be ran, v1.51 does not.
Just though this might be interesting info for all the PSP nuts out there :)
AMD Athlon 64bit FX-55 - OCed to 3.06Ghz -- Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI -- 4GB Dual Channel DDR400
2x 120GB Seagate 10K RPM RAID-0 -- 2x BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI Express SLI -- Plextor PX-740A & TDK 40x20x52x -- Windows 7 64bit -- Maybe old and outdated but still runs quick lol

ha, incase you didnt know it dosent matter anyway bcus the games that are gonna come out soon (the newer ones) will all have a security update on them so if you try to play them unless if you have the security update the game wont start. The games themself will have a update on them so that you can download, either way it dosent matter if you dont update the v 1.0 to 1.5/1.51 you wont be able to play the newer games for eample; midnight club 3, socom, and all the other titles.
