3 steps to a dvd rip
1. Rip DVD using DVDDecrypter (inc split)
2. Authour in Ifoedit (no editing of files)
3. Burn with Nero
I am new to this but here is my solution. This will split 1 DVD9 where the file size is more than 4.3gig and wont fit onto 1 DVD even after stripping out the extras.
Please note this option will only rip the main movie and sound file not Chapters or Subtitles.
Tools
DVDDcrypter - freely Available
ac3fix - freely Avilable
Spruce Up - Your on your own
or
Ifoedit - works great
THE RIP PART 1
1. Load up DVDDecrypter
2. Insert Movie to Rip
3. Select TOOLS-SETTINGS from menu
4. *Important *
Select IFO MODE tab and ensure that splitting is set to NONE.(we want 1 big file) Click OK
5. Select MODE IFO from menu
6.Select STREAM PROCESSING tab
7.Check ENABLE STREAM PROCESSING
8.Uncheck evrything except Video Stream and 1* Audio Stream of your choice
9.Highlight Video Stream Click on Demux
10. Highlight Audio Stream Click on Demux
11.Select INPUT
12. View Chapters how many are there ? and what is total filesize ? (bottom right hand corner) Note this down and divide by 2
13. Click with right mouse button in chapter area and select none (all boxes now unchecked)
14.We are going to select roughly half the chapters ie 40 chapters select 1-19
15. Click with mouse button to select your chapters keeping an eye on our total filesize (it needs to be roughly half of out grand total from Line 12 above) you did write it down :-0
Create 2 Dirs on the Harddrive you are going to rip to ( you will need plenty of space)
Name the Dirs FOLDER 1 & FOLDER 2
Select FOLDER 1 as Destination
16.Click On Decrypt button to rip files to your hard drive FOLDER 1
After rip is complete you should have a MV2 Video File and a AC3 sound file in FOLDER 1
**** REPEAT THE ABOVE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE CHAPTERS ie 20-41 ***** remember to change Destination to FOLDER 2
Ok thats the ripping done this only takes about 5/20 mins depending on your PC setup
Next we need to re-name the Video & Audio files in our download folders 1 & 2 with the same name. ie rename your AC3 Audio file to someting like VTS01.AC3 and rename your Video file to VTS01.M2V sure you do this for BOTH FOLDERS 1 & 2
UPDATE UPDATE !!!
You do not need to use ac3fix if you use ifoedit to Author your DVD. you just load in your video & audio files ifoedit does the rest-easy as 123...
*** USING ac3fix ****
you will have to use ac3fix on the sound file in FOLDER 2 to correct the audio if you are going to use spruce up to author the disk.
ac3fix usage (DOS proggy)
ac3fix <input file> <output file>
once fix has been done delete old file and re-name fixed Audio file to match video filename.
ie:- ac3fix VTS01 VTS02
fixes vts01 and re-names it vts02
after it has been fixed delete vts01 and rename vts02 to vts01
When using ifoedit to Author the files i have never needed to use ac3fix ! to correct the audio file in folder 2
****************** END OF ac3fix *******
Next Step AUTHORING
I have only ever used Spruce Up but I have tried ifoedit v0.94 with individual chapters and it seems to work well.
AUTHORING - Using SPUCE UP
Load up Spruce Up
Load in Video File M2V from Folder 1 the audio will autoload
Create Menus and Backdrop if required etc..
Select Simulate to test if everything OK select Export (to folder or DVD Disk DVD-R only !)
The system will create all the VOB and IFO files and will burn the disc if you want.
This Last Part takes about 40 mins on my machine in SPUCE UP.
* REPEAT AUTHORING PROCESS FOR SECOND DISK*
AUTHORING USING ifoedit
Load up ifoedit
Select DVD Author from menu
Locate M2V file (Folder 1- load it
Locate AC3 File - ( Folder 1 -Load it
Select Output Directory - Click OK
once done click on play DVD should work fine
BURN Output VIDEO_TS contents using nero or whatever.
*** Repeat Process for Folder 2 ***
