why is it that when i connect my PSP to my PC through the supplied USB lead all I get is the error message "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED. one of the USB devices attached to the computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it" yet on my mates PC it connects straight away and can open the memory stick no problem. It is becoming a pain in the arse having to go round my mates house to put new pics / mp3s on it..... PLEASE HELP......

It has something to do with your computer and there's nothing wrong with the USB cable or your PSP. Probably it is because your computer doesn't support newer devices or maybe your computer does not have the required specs to view the PSP folders.

Ok I'm not sure if this will work but give it a shot anyways.

I would put the Memory Stick in your PSP and try formatting it. I think its somewhere in System Settings.

Because if you didn't formatt it yet, some devices wont recognize it(See reading the manual does pay off sometimes.)

If that doesn't work and you've tried everything else I would give the manufacturer of you Memory Stick a call.

Yes i have tried formatting the memory card, and no this still does not work.Yes i have also tried connecting to all my usb ports but still have no joy.Somebody did however say that to connect my PSP to my PC my PC would have to have a USB 2.0 port on it, at the moment it still has old USB ports(i think its USB 1.1) If i buy a PCI card that has several USB 2.0 ports on and install it does anyone think it would work ? ? ? ?
