In short, NO you can't.

Not yet atleast.

AMD Athlon 64bit FX-55 - OCed to 3.06Ghz -- Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI -- 4GB Dual Channel DDR400
2x 120GB Seagate 10K RPM RAID-0 -- 2x BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI Express SLI -- Plextor PX-740A & TDK 40x20x52x -- Windows 7 64bit -- Maybe old and outdated but still runs quick lol

just a thought to this post, maybe it'll be possible (witha third party app) when the PS3 comes out next year, think about it, the psp (was stated at E3)to be used as an extra controller, why not, it could be possible with the kind of technology at the time that 3 comes out

But you would need some kind of a output for the psp, which sends out it's graphics,, and i havent heard of such a thing,, because the rate of transfer would have to be very big,, it can be used as a wireless controller because sending the buttons to the ps3 will be nothing compairewd to the psp sending its graphics out.

totally true, I was just considering a possibilty that it "MIGHT" be possible in the future.
here's an idea for the psp and ps3 - psp might not be able to actually stream, but what about transfer to the ps3's hard drive, updates for the psp when ps3 come out "MIGHT" make that possible, sense the UMD is propietery, why wouldn't SONY (other than wanting more $$$) make it possible to transfer (albiet temporarily) UMD content to the PS3 HDD.

you could think of it something akin to bit torrent for PSP to PS3

I'm not sure if sony is in a big hurry to release anything that will display the psp graphics on a tv yet. From what I understand the graphics look tight on a psp, but when it's put on tv it doesn't look so good. Also sony would rather you play a ps2 or ps3 if you want to play on the tv. PSP is strictly a handheld experiance at the moment.

another thought, why couldn't it be possible to pull the vid (i.e. game, UMD) through the mini-usb to the PC or the PS3 or whatever GUI that ur using?

SelokFith, I don't beleive that the usb cable idea would work. The psp isn't geared to output to usb and even if it could I'm not sure if the cable could handle the bandwidth. As allways I could be wrong though (I usually am). If you find out anymore info, let us know.
