I am new to Afterdawn but not to dvd ripping, so I hope I am posting in the right place.

I have an HP 640b lightscribe +/- DVD writer. I am hoping someone can give me advice on problems during the FINALIZING stage. For some reason, everytime it is finalizing, it makes my program freeze up - no matter which program I use. I also have an external Sony writer and it is not having any problems. I have tested between the two of them of backing up the same movies in with the same programs under all the same circumstances just to be sure it is not an software issue. All I can say right now is My Sony is doing everything correctly, but the HP is NOT. I have to believe it is something with the hardware.

I went to the hp site to see if there was a firmware upgrade and they didnt even list my writer. they listed two others with different letters but I checke dthe comp system to ensure that mine is really a 640b and it does say that.

Can anyone help me? PS - the movies are being burned, but I have to cold boot the comp EVERY TIME I use the HP 640b. It is supposed to be an UPGRADE 16x etc, vs my Sony which is only a 4x. And ALL my Media is 8x. I have used Memorex, Sony, and TDK. Its not the media.
