I need help. I have tried to burn avi to dvd on my computer from my camcorder. I successfully make dvd's using winavi and boilsoft avi to dvd and burn them on tdk media using Nero. I even tried Nero Conversion. I get the message " this disk cannot be read or recorded". They play on my cheap dvd player but will not play on the sony. When I contacted sony they said to clean the equipment. It's brand new. It will play cd's (mp3 but not mpg files) and again my el cheapo plays everthing. Does sony plays divx or xvid. Is there something about this recorder that creates this problem. Should I record it in some other format? I guess the real problem is that I want to use the dvds since it has so much more disk space. I am a newbie and could use advice in this matter.

Athlon 64
Windows xp.
Lg dual layer dvd recorder
