Hi, I wonder if anyone could help please. I'm no stranger to backing up both CDR and DVD based PS2 games when I have the original. I'm new to burning downloaded PS2 games but have had no problems when burning DVD based games, I simply use Winrar then Decrypter. My problems start when dealing with CDR based PS2 games. My current 'project' is called 7 Sins and is a DVDrip which I believe means that it is ripped down to CDR size files. I have used Winrar to unpack the files and am left with a Bin and a Cue file. I've tried using Nero, Decrypter and Alcohol 120 to burn either or both files on both DVD and CDR discs but so far have had no luck. I boot my games onto the console using Swap Magic and use the correct boot disc (CD or DVD) according to the media type I'm loading.

Can anyone help please, I'm trying to limit my coaster making!

Many thanks,

Terry

Thats strange...

Here is what I do when I backup my CD based ps2 games...

1) Burn with Clone CD
2) Burn at 1x
3) Use Sony CD-R media

They boot flawlessly all the time..

Thanks for info. I have no problem backing up a CDR PS2 game when I have the original, I just use Stomp Record Now Max (very similar to Prazzi) and make an exact copy. The backup disc will then boot using Swap Magic (CD version disc of course)- I usually use either Infiniti or Discrite discs and have no probs.

It's just that I'm not familiar with these Cue and Bin files that I'm left with after unpacking a downloaded game with WinRAR - give me an ISO file to burn to DVD any day (DVD Decrypter works like magic with those). I note that people often mention Alcohol 120 when burning CDR based games and talk of using 'the PS2 setting' when burning - I have Alcohol 120 version 1.9.5 (Trial Version) from the forums' downloads section but can see no such setting.

Any further help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Terry

.bin and .cue means the game was actually downloaded to the computer using Alcohol 120%. Here is a little guide to follow,

Writing the ps2 file to a disc

1) Open up Alcohol 120% and click "Image Burning Wizard"

2) Find the ISO or .cue file and click "next"

3) On this screen make sure that the "Write Speed" is at the lowest speed possible and make sure the "Write Method" is on "DAO/SAO"

4) Also make sure the radio button "Enable Buffer Underrun Technology" is checked and click "Start" That's it!

Does this help?

Yep, success!

I think I nearly had it by trial and error but I was using the wrong write method.

I wasn't sure which Datatype to choose so I chose Customise - was this the best choice or does it not matter?

Anyway - thanks a million for taking the time to explain this to me.

Many thanks,

Terry

I used Alcohol 120% and in the Write method i don't have the option DAO/SAO. So i went to the Recodring option and added the option. When i go to burn it i get an error."The selected drive is not able to make real 1:1 copies using this datatype!" At the bottom where it says devices i see my dvd rom it says "ATAPI DVD DUAL 16X4X12(1:0)" What should i do?
