U r new to family!!!!
No.1 There are currently 2 types of dvd.
DVD5 and DVD9.
Blank ones r DVD5
DVD5 r single layer discs and contain upto 4.7Gb of information.
DVD9 r dual layer discs and can contain double that of the DVD5.
Using dvd decrypter u can rip a DVD5 using ISO READ mode, this creates an image of the actual disc on ur hdd.U can then burn the disc back using ISO WRITE mode, this burns it back one for one (exactly the same as original DVD5).
However backing up a DVD9 is a little more complicated as there is TOO MANY GB'S to go on a standard blank dvd.
Therefore u have 2 choices.
DVD decrypter in FILE MODE and rip the whole disc - space on hdd needed.
1. strip out all the unwanted stuff ie,subtitles, multiple angles, menus, audio.
(this is a common way to reduce the overall size using ifoedit)
2.Re-encode the movie to a lower bitrate which in turn reduces the overall size.
THE KEY HERE IS TO REMEMBER THE MAGIC VALUE.
This is 4.37Gb.
When u have ripped/stripped IF U HAVE LESS THAN 4.37Gb it will fit on a blank dvd.
The process can be time consuming.
There r loads of guides around the forum.
A good one is seamonkey's website but cannot remember the link but u can find seamonkey in the forum.
If u won't to learn about dvd decryptor visit the forum dvddecrypter.com.
Generally software rq'd r:
