I dont understand, I purchased my 51inch wide screen tv and thought that I would be happy with the picture, however im not. I understand the difference in widescreen and fullscreen and know that eventually everything will be widescreen. However, the instruction warn you to limit your full screen viewing due to a burning effect. meaning, the black bars that will be displayed on the sides of the screen could have a different tent or color due to it never being used or being limited. Ok, this is my question. They tell you this but then when you watch a widescreen dvd movie it is still framed (black bars) at the top and bottom! the only way not to get a frame in widescreen mode it to zoom it x2! then you cut so much off the sides, you miss half the viewable movie! I thought that the tv would stretch a widescreen movie to fit the screen completly. Why is this? Is there a way around it?

Thats not a widescreen standard of 16:9, the movies with the bars top and bottom are actually Cinemaphoric reproductions. Cinema screens are wider than a standard home screen, sometimes referred to as Anamaphoric the bars top and bottom are common. I've never heard about the problem with the black bars top and bottom becoming imprinted in the dispaly. Im well aware of what screen burn is, but dont believe it will be an issue with the black bars top and bottom. I have watched over 1,000 movies on my projector, and most have the Anamorphic set-up.

Hope this helps
