i used to download alot of music from limewirepro and shows two weeks ago but now i cant even download nothing my connection is bad when i get on lime wire. my internet is really fast though but i cant download for nothing not one song. this happend when i was at work and i left the computer on all night downloading and i just got into azueres bitorrent clien which i love but only got to use it for a week before my computer messed up.

i erased everything from my computer because i didnt know what else to do i practically did everything from rebooting from safemode to talking to my isp verison... restoring ports...everything is working fine now on my computer and it's faster then ever but i miss downloading alot please someone help should i take it to some computer place and tell them my situation so that they can fix it?
the day it messed up was the day i was downloading10 gb and people were uploading alot from me.... that's the day i couldnt use it anymore and i was so close to finishing downloading all of soutpark and beavis and butthead cartoon shows... please someone help
Boy this thread is from a while ago. Maybe old news for you now, but reinstalling everything was probably far from necessary just to get your internet connection back up. My guess is you are using a cheap router and on a cable modem? Am I right? Cheap meaning any generic off the shelf $50-$200 router/wireless router. These can't always handle the intense traffic that torrenting requires. I don't know why more people don't talk about this problem.
All you probably needed to do was exit Azureus, and release and renew your DHCP or IP info or reset if you don't know how to do that, unplug your router for like 10 seconds.
While Azureus may be the niftiest feature rich torrent program, it really is bad for a number of reasons. First off it is programmed in Java which sucks and makes it the most intensive torrent program out there on cpu and memory. Secondly, it doesn't manage peer connections very well, which is mostly only an issue if you are having router problems like it sounds you are. Azureus is essentially choking your router. Lastly, it doesn't work very well with other programs due to bad hash checking.
I use a combination of two programs that works quite well: G3 and Bitcomet. I mostly use G3 for seeding and downloading, which is an old program. You will find that it has some very cool features that even the newest programs don't have, but that all in all it is very primitive, but that is exactly why it is good. You don't need or want all the fancy crap. Of all the torrent programs I have tried, it uses the least memory and cpu, and purrs in the background like a baby regardless of what I am doing. (You still need to limit the upload to not use up all your bandwidth- whatever your max upload is with your ISP, take that # and divide by 8. Then plug in a number that is 50-70% of that. For example mine is 768kbs/sec. So my max upload is 50. Also keep the max # of connections to the 35/55 default).
The reason for Bitcomet? I wouldn't use it at all but G3 is not a trackerless client. So for torrents where G3 can't connect to the tracker, I switch to Bitcomet, which I can usually keep from choking my router if I am careful.

i had verizon before and i thought the problem was verizon since i was downloading so danm much.
now that i have comcast i could use limewire but not limewirepro which is wiered.
i have not tried azures until i get my alienware computer because it's going to be superfast. but if it doesnt work in my alienware computer then i have to do your suggestings and if that doesnt work well i guess nomore downloading big files like movies and entire shows...

How are you specifically connected? In other words, trace the connection from the back of your computer to the point at which the cable leaves your house and your control and tell me what hardware it is going through.
well i'm being connected tru comcast cable i have this little router box that came with the internet,one of the reasons i got comcast because it's for it's downloads i think 10 mbs thats the fastest around here. my uncle had azueres on his computer which he had the same thing verizon then he swithc to adelphia. i really think it's my computer. because i have three different accounts my account,my brother and a guess account.
for some reason i cant use limewire on my account. but for my brohters,and a guest account i can and my computers not that fast like it should be. it's 2.20 gh and it's 2 years old or 3. i have all the good stuff i need to make my computer safe and run great. that's why i feel i need a new computer or maybe i should download azueres and give it a second try. i'll do that. the wire runs tru the cable box in the living room and somewhere downstairs since i live in a apartment. i dont have a dish for the cable since its digital.
