Forgive me if my english is a bit poor.

The problem:
My burner worked perfect but all of a sudden it stops working correctly. I constantly get the message "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once.".
It doesn't matter what I burn, an image or movie they all end up in that error. And i messed up a lot of discs.

Here are some specs.
My burner is a NEC ND-2100AD (flashed with the latest firmware).
I know NEC burners aren't that great but it always worked perfect.

Im running winxp sp2.
I installed the latest aspi drivers.
I removed nero with the cleantools and reinstalled it.
I flashed the firmware on the burner.
I have the latest systembios.
I used all kinds of different media, cheap and expensive discs.

Thnkx in advance for viewing my post.

CrazyLegz.

PS: Below is my Nero log.

Here are a few possible reasons for your error.

1. Your files are too big to fit the blank media.

2. The blank media is of the cheaper version which usually don't burn well when you get to the outer edges of the disc.

What brand of blank media are you using? Have you changed brands of media at the time your problem started? Also if I read the log right you are burning on the fly and not ripping to your HD. Burning on the fly is not the best way to burn dvds. Hope some of this helps.

Hey try this link to check if your media is bad:

What do you base yourself on to say that ?
Or was it just an assumption ?

Thank you all for your replies.

The files I try to burn are mostly around 4 gigs.
But I don't think thats the problem, because Nero shows it if it doesn't fit on the disc and I know a standard dvd can take about 4.2-4.4 gigs.

The media I used when it started were expensive philips discs, then I switched over to cheaper media because I messed up a lot of expensive discs. The discs I use now are very cheap Arita discs.

And i'm never burning on the fly I'm very sure of that because I always check that checkbox off.

- it's the other way round, ie the data to be burned to this disc is 2973MB, the media is 'apparently' capable of 4482MB

a few lines down you should see something such as -

- but it looks like Nero just couln't determine the media it was trying to use, then a few of these errors -

@cougar, You asked about why I suggested maybe the files were too big. Actually it was just a guess because of the error he got Can't perform end of disc at once. The problem looked to be at the disc end. The other suggestion was CHEAP media which also would show problems at the outer edge. I'm not too great at Nero log reading either and go back over them several times trying to figure out what the heck it is saying.

i'm still figuring out some bits in Nero, i think it's Nero Express that produces huuuuge, horrendously complicated-looking logs.

I am not too great at reading Nero logs yet either, some things are easy to spot other problems can be related to hardware or the software that is running or on the computer, since I am not directly looking at the persons computer it become a real challenge.

It began with the more expensive media, now i'm just using cheaper media because I'm messing up a lot of discs, and it costs me a bit to much.

But the error happens randomly, sometimes it happens at 40% and sometimes it happens when it's burning the lead-out.

I think it's your media also. The only time I have ever had this problem with Nero it was due to the media - Memorex. They weren't cheap cost wise either but cheap in quality. Put a blank disc in and with Nero go to Toolkit>Nero Info Tool - disc tab. This will give the actually manufacture's code. You can post back with the code or do a search to see how good it is.
