Ok, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but maybe you guys can help me out. I recently switched from using Fulifilm 4X DVD-R to TDK 8X DVD-R. I'm currently using Nero for making my own DVD movies. I was on average a 2MB MPEG files and I would switch my Video quality to long play. This was working fine for me and have not had any issues. My DVD movies were looking fine but now that I'm using the 8X DVDs, I'm having errors at the begining of my burn and it fails. Any ideas?

I think it is the media your having trouble with, Most fujifilm disc are made by Taiyo Yuden which is one of the bestest media brand, probbably TDK disc have lower quality than those of Taiyo Yuden (TY), which can cause read errors, I recommend you to buy TY media which is better or Verbatim, Dont buy Hp which is made By CMC magnetics and has very low quality and Dye problems.
You can Download DVD Identifier, which can check media code and the real manacfurer of the disc, check if your fujifilm are made by Ty, I really recommend those, It is clearly a media problem, so try using another good brand (Verbatim made by mitsubishi Chemicals, Or Fujifilm made by Taiyo Yuden), also try burning at the lowest speed(4x is good for me) so you can be sure your burn is error free, Tell me how you do,

ok i am having a problem here. About a week ago i bought 50pk verbatim dvd+r 8x. after i burn a movie onto it and go to play it it replys with this: Disk is not formatted Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatiable with windows and then has a button of saying ok.. I am new to this computer language so can i please get some help with in regards to this? I have already lost over 15 dvdrs b/c of this. It really suxs to b/c it waste time burning the movie onto the disk and it gives this error. Thank you so much ....

lisa32, are these actual copies of DVDs or copies of individual video files? What player are you using? If you are using Media player, I would suggest installing FFDShow which you can get here.

Let me know how it works out for you.

oh and the player i am using is the windvd 4 for sony b/c that came with my laptop. i have a little sony viao. IT's just weird b/c when i backup a copy a movie with DVD Decrypter it says successfully completed and when i go to play it in my dvd player it takes long time to load and ends up with saying "bad disc." Also, when i go to play it on my laptop it gives that message that i posted early today... Any suggestions to why sometimes my discs copy and dont? I heard that these r good discs but why is it that out of 50 of them there were like 25 of them that gave me this message? Oh also, can i use dvd-r to copy movies?

@lisa32

Your question is being answered on the thread you started

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/193905

and you may want to edit your post because copying rental disks is illegal.

well if your drive support 16X speed it will probablably lower your burn times to 6 or 5 minutes, although I DO NOT recommend burning at such speed, read erros may appear as such speeds, even though it takes 10 more minutes to burn a full 4.7gb DVD at 4x it can save you a coaster, so I really recommend you to always burn at the lowest speed possible or 4x so you dont have read problems.

Another question: Are you doing multisession disc? and book type as DVD-ROM
