I have the dvdxcopy platinum and i still don't have anyproblem with it except with backing up some dvds .. a friend told me about a new software that looks like the dvdxcopy calld X software platinum. the thing i like about it is that it support dual layer. the bad part is its not fast as the dvdxcopy in burning the DVD. using the same media it take about 30 min to copy and burn the whole movie in dvdxcopy while in the xsoftware it takes an hour and a half. any idea why is that??.. is it because i am using the trial version for the xsoftware ?? does anyone know what file control the speed of the burning ?? i checked both forlders for the dvdxcopy and the xsoftware .. both folders have the same files exactly with the same name. i might do some experimentation in replacing some files with another and see what will happen . but before i do that i thought it won't hurt to ask if someone have an idea on what file control the speed of the buring before i do so ..

From what I've seen it's the exact same program. I only noticed 2 differences, the 321 Studios version 4.0.3.8 used Patin-Couffin revision 19 while X Software uses revision 28 and X Software doesn't include a ripper. If you look around in the X Software folder and open some of the help files you will see some of the old 321 Studios symbols still being used. When I tried the X Software for the first time it tried to contact a server and Norton detected it as 321 Studios Xcopy Xpress.

If your interested in dual layer copying. Use DVD Decrypter.

And for compressing use the combination of Shrink and Decrypter. Average time for me is 40-45min for a dvd9.

And I use to use XCopy (Platinum), even Platinum took 40-45 min to do a dvd9.

Ppower you're right .. i believe they are the same company but under a different name now after the case they lost in fedral court. but i still don't know why the xsoftware is taking longer in burning. i thought it could be a firmware issue. but i have the latest update beside like i said its waorking fine with the xcopy.
flip 218. actually i don't have a dual burner yet. its amazing how cheap they are comparing to the price when i got my sony DRU 500a i remember buying it for almost $400 now you can get the dual burner for a $120 the only thing that keeping me away from not using the dual yet is the high cost of the media .. almost a $5 each in an average. where i can get a good quality 4.7gb for 60c each.
anyway i will try some things and play around with the files and see the problem behind the delay in burning and i will let you know guys if u are interested.

i've recently started using dvdXplatinum (by X Software) ever since i switched over from dvdXcopy platinum v4.0.4.15, i've been getting alot of errors written to the discs. if i use Nero 6.3 or even roxio 7.5 to cache it, it has a "read error". 80% of the time. what i'm looking for is information on compatibility issues - software, hardware, update conflicts, etc.
i'm waiting on a response to get my old program actived, so in the meantime, i'd like to get some info on this program regarding "troubles". it's like rolling dice . . . you never know when you're getting a good burn.

But why continue to fight with crappy software? Why waste your time looking for conflicts? The X-copy stuff is WAY behind the times. Time to try something new, Decrypter, Shrink, Clone2, InterVideo DVDCopy3, Recode2, DVD2One, DVD Rebuilder, AnyDVD, CSS+Region Free, Nero, CopyToDVD just to name a few.
