Alright - I've gotten desparate. I've been using azureus for over a year now and have never had any problems. In the last couple of weeks, though, I'm getting a NAT error every time I try and test the line. But it's only for the computer with a wired connection.

My laptop is able to get green smileys and a clean connection. But not the wired one - I can't reason it out.

I've had azureus errors before and have always been able to figure out and fix the problem. But I'm at a loss.

Here is what I've done on this computer:

1. ports forwarded - on my Linksys WRT54G router, I have opened port 6881 and enabled both protocols on my IP address

2. ran system recovery to six weeks ago when I KNOW I was getting green smileys

3. uninstalled current version of azureus (2.3.0.0) and installed 2.2.0.2

4. uninstalled java and reinstalled - version 1.5...

5. reset the cable modem

6. tried a direct connection - bypassing the router

7. turned off windows xp firewall

8. opened up the port in my sygate personal firewall

9. edited NOD32 profile to allow java to run

I've read numerous posts and tried several different things and combinations of those several different things.

I am thinking that the problem must be in this computer since it's not affecting my DL speeds or smilies on the laptop.

Any ideas where I can start looking for fixes?

Thanks, so much, in advance -

6881

do you always use that port? a lot of things block it and ISPs throttle it

hmm - nat error....

by doing that youve given your ip to everyone in this forum, edit it if i were you mate :D

hmm - only thing i can think of is a format, totally erase everything - then re-install.

Woops - didn't even think. Ummm.. an edit of your quote of my original post would be most appreciated.

Update on the problem:

I disconnected the modem again and reset it - directly connected it to my pc and rebooted.

Green smileys.

So, that leads me to believe that the problem is with the router. But if that's the case, why would my laptop have no nat error when the router is connected.

I know that the router issues IP addresses when the computers are booted - could that be it?

I've just never seen this. At least now I know it's not with my computer which I thought it initially was.
