can't burn with sony dru 500a anymore

For some reason everytime I try to burn movies with it, it doesn't get past writing the lead in part before it says i/o error. It does this with dvd decrypter and nero. I have been using it for about 2 years and the media is princo and have been using it almost as long. This has just started happening the last month. Sometimes if I try it enough times it will work, but most of the time it doesn't. Does anybody have any suggestions?
