I have backed up my share of movies with DVD X Copy Platinum.
I have been experimenting with other programs as movies are getting much harder to do.
Right now I have backed up a movie with Decrypter, then used DVD Shrink to get it to size. I then used Folder2Iso to make an iso image to burn.
Nothing that I tried worked.
I left as video_ts file and tried to burn with my Roxio Media Creator and got a coaster.
I left as iso image and burned with same, and also used Decrypter to burn, all with coaster results.
Right now my Platinum program is not working,I have read the guides; but have yet to find one that really simplifies the process.
I mean I have tried every which way imaginable with the same results.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just use DVD Shrink and Decrypter? There have only been 5 or 6 dvd's I have'nt been able to backup without using decrypter first, but using shrink to make the iso image and decrypter to burn it should work without a hitch. I personally have been using shrink and nero for over a thousand dvd backups and until december(sony arcoss) I didn't need a seperate ripper. Since then I have used decrypter first(rarely need to) and then shrink and nero to burn. Decrypter and shrink alone should work though.

Oh, and get rid of every file linked to roxio on your hard drive. This could be the reason you are having a hard time.

I agree with wolfniggr, lose the Roxio installation and go for your data-bruning needs to Nero! Roxio Easy CD Creator messed up my whole system when I started using Windows XP. From that moment I started using Nero 5.0/6.0 and no problem since!

DVDshrink is in my opinion the most simple yet best way to back-up DVD's. If I can load a DVD it never fails. If I can't load a DVD...well that hasn't happened to me until yesterdag! :-) So I'm going to try DVDdecrypter to open the DVD and get the files to my HD, and then DVDshrink.

By the way, problems could also be due to DVD-media, DVD-R(W) harware or simply a DVD-player that can't handle copies.

You need to check out some guides. And this certainly doesn't qualify as a DVD-R for advanced users question.

Use the DVD-R newbie forum.

I say check out some guide cause you said your using Folder2ISO to make an ISO image. ... WHY?

The combination of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are more than capable of making the backup. DVD Shrink is capable of creating an ISO. DVD Decrypter is capable of burning ISOs.
