As far as Aviator, no unique protection it. check this thread out:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/194584
As far as Little Black Book, there are tons of threads on it. Use "search" to see them. But in summary, it has newer protection on it so you need either latest version of Any DVD or latest version of Decrypter.
As far as Troy, its been too long ago, but I don't remember any special protection on it.
The problem I have noticed lately it that there are a lot of bad pressings or a lot of scratched disks going around..

Backed up the Aviator with Shrink and Nero without a problem over a week ago. Backed up BoogeyMan yesterday without a problem either (and that is a sony release).

Had a similar problem... turned out to be the sorry Memorex DVD+R disc. When HP brand was used, no lock-up.

Ripped it with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink / burn Nero no problem.
Got a crc in Decrypter at first ,but after a nice warm bath in mild soapy water (the dvd ...not me =P) it worked fine.
Try washing the disk.

wow, wolfniggr, you sure get dvds FAST, boogeyman is something i have been waiting for to come out on dvd, i already have my order placed with amazon when it DOES come out NEXT WEEK~ :) may i ask how you get all the new releases so quickly? i wish i could do that as well, i basically pre-order all my dvds, which are usually shipped the day before the movie is released to public, but, never a week ahead of schedule~ :)
anyways, i did aviator w/ shrink and AnyDVD in background, no problems, ripped it in less than 10 min. and burned it at 8x on TYs for total backup time of a little over 20 min.~ :P
i think the problem is with a bad pressing as stated earlier~ good luck

k i have the movie "aviator" in my HD and used the DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 and it encoded nicely. However, when using my decrypter 3.5.4.0 and had the AnyDVD 5.1.2.1. in the background seemed like it was going to burn the copy but at like 25% it came up with an error saying that crc that everybody is talking about. i am thinking that it's the movie b/c the other day was doing the same thing to me with the movie "are we there yet" so then i got another copy of the movie and this time it burned nicely. SO is anybody going thru this same problem? ALso, i am trying to copy some of my copies of movies in my library and it gives me the same error with some of the movies.. Does anybody know whY? i am using dvd+r 16x vertabim & 8x dynex. i was told that they r pretty good dvd+r's. i am not sure on what i can do can somebody help me out? thx....

If your getting CRC on your backups it's more than likely due to your media. Dynex and Verbatim both use different company's to make their discs. You'll need to find the manufactor's code to see how really reliable they are. Verbatim is usually good but has been done to use CMC which isn't. If you have Nero and the disc is already burned use the cddvd speed option in toolkit. Click on the disc icon and it will display the manufactor's code. If not download DVDinfo pro. When this happens to me I first clean the disc - try again, same problem I switch drives, still a problem I use Decrypter and have it set to ingore read errors - this has worked for me 98% of the time. If all else fails back to the original.
Also if you had Aviator on your hd and during the burn process received the CRC error - this usually means Decrypter doesn't like the media. I'm also think Decrypter will also give you media code when burning.

jhunter,
I just made a backup of Are we there yet. The complete dvd size is just over 5.3 gig's and I didn't want to use a dbl layer so I took out the extras and menu and without compressing it is small enough to fit on a single layer. Use DVD Decrypter and choose all files then use DVD Shrink to take out or compress the files. I burn with Record Now Max.
The Aviator was a peice of cake. Used DVD Decrypter to create an ISO then burned onto a dbl layer using DVD Decrypter.

glad you got it figured out .... and another thread that doesn't belong in DVD-R advanced.
Your Advanced question's answer/solution was ... update DVD Decrypter. <shakes head>
You should already have done that. Maybe post in Newbies next time.
