i have been reading through these forums a lot lately and i want to know if anyone has stumbled upon how to copy ps2 games without a mod chip or anything that i have to put in or on my ps2. if anyone has found something out please let me know asap

also i saw that someone had got a game from gamestop and said it was burnt to a disc and played fine on their ps2 without anything special added to the ps2. can anyone help

You need some kind of modification or your PSTwo WILL NOT play back up copies. Depends on which version PSTwo you have as to which mod you will need.

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.

So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.

There are no exceptions,
No matter what anyone tells you at gamestop.

i dont have swap magic but i do have action replay max that is not only a cheat disc but also says it will boot up and play retro games that normally wouldn't play on a ps2. it even comes with the software to make a game disc. would that work?
