Help with Panasonic DMR- ES10 hook up

I got a DVD Recorder Panasonic DMR-ES10.
I need to hook it up properly to my sat receiver and tv.
The current problem I have now is when I turn off the DVD recorder--the TV turns off as well.
When set to timer programming and I turn the DVD Recorder off, TV turns off and only turns back on when recording starts.

I'd like to be able to still watch sat TV--when on timer programming.
